Depending on his height I would reckon he is virtually all, if not pure, Connie I certainly can't detect any welsh there . He is very nice by the way.

Like SS3, I can't see much Welshie there! I have Welshies, and of varying types, so am fairly familiar with them. Not a connie expert tho. Doesn't Donnalex have connies? She'd be a good one to ask?

Connemaras are supposed to be 'square' that is the distance from wither to rump and distance from wither to ground and rump to ground should form a square. I can't tell from those photos as they are not directly side on, but look at him side on and see. Also Connies have a reputation of being very clever, can work out how to undo latches and tied ropes, get under electric fence tapes, find what ever they want... and get it! Does he have any of those traits?

Thanks for the replies ;D He's just a touch under 14.2hh, and yes Dragonmaster he's exactly like that! Very clever, can easily undo himself when he's tied up and he's very cheeky!! Thanks guys, will try and get some good conformation shots

I thought he looked Araby....anglo arab perhaps... I wouldnt have said Connemara... Connie's are a bit heavier set that this one, not as heavy as a HiPo, but heavier than the above...
Very very nice though

I see no Arab whatsoever and have judged many connies in the past. If he has anything else in him I would have said TB but that is doubtful as he is proper connie height. I would like to see more pics though.

A lot of the pure bred Connemaras show Arab, TB and ID influence, they all tend to favour one of those breeds a little bit as they were used to improve the breed a lot in the past. Any Arab or TB that you can see in this pony is probably down to his ancestry rather than his immediate family. He looks like a Connie to me, they come in all shapes and sizes from Ireland and some of them can look very horsey. He is most likely to be an Irish pony of Connemara breeding but not registered as a lot of them are not registered over there, they have bred lots of them. Sometimes they are not registered if they fail the inspection or if a parent has failed or simply the breeder is not inclined to do it. In years gone by they were worth just as much without if they had a jump so paying the extra has not been worth it in lots of cases which is a pity. If he was mine I would try him in the M&M and M&M WHP classes at club level and see how you go on if you are looking for classes to compete in?

he is lovely Cara&Jewel! and yours looks a sweetie too Dragonmaster! i thought Connie too - especially agree with SS3 re the height of a TB/Connie cross - here are a couple of pics of my Connie/TB cross for comparison - he is quite tall - 15.3 now and has his TB mother's long legs! but he is very much a pony in his character and his face is just like his Connie dad's (apart from in colour), he has the speed of a TB and a tremendous Connie jump on him - just makes everything look so easy! he is braver than i! when he was 3, and not yet full height/muscle a more recent one from this spring/summer at 5 (with toiletbrush mane regrowth thanks to my now binned solocomb LOL)

Thanks everyone!
Lovely horses Dragonmaster and mrsfields! ;D
Will get some better pictures of him tonight, also mom always worries that she is too big for him, she's 5'2 and 12 stone, what do you think?

I'm 5'10 and 15 stone, you can see how big I am to Rosie in the top picture, but she carries me no problem. However I do ride in a balanced way and we only do hacking with short canters, nothing too energetic. I never thought I would ride a 14.2 pony, but she was offered to me on loan and once I had tried her I realised she was fine.
