Does anyone have a Cob saddle from the above maker ?
I am looking at buying one tomorrow as our saddler's have a sale 20% off woo hoo. But just wondered what people that have them think of them first.
I have a highland so I am limited to what I can buy and also not the biggest of budgets.
Thanks

I tried a gp kent & masters saddle last year (not on a cob) it badly slipped when i mounted despite girth being firm and i didnt feel it gave me any support so i didnt buy one

Yes I own one, they are a good budget saddle.
Not the comfiest of seats though, I always used a gel pad with it
I also own one of their 'jump' saddles which is much more comfy than the 'cob' version
I only used it for jumping, as I had a dressage saddle but when I loaned the pony out the girl had trouble with it slipping round, I tend to start with my girth not too tight and always mount from a block (often without putting a foot in the stirrup) then do my girth up several times as I am warming up and I wonder if it was that they were trying to girth right up before mounting and the pony just inflated to double size as they girthed.

Well they are leather Thorowgoods!! I have to say that the TG dressage saddle I rode on at a clinic surprised me with how comfortable it was in the seat, and had velcroed on knee rolls so could put them well back to aid the leg position. A good saddle. Dont like the GP though, nowhere near as good and stirrup bars way too far forward. I dont know how similar they are in the K and M saddles.

Thanks all..
I already have a Thorowgood Pony club saddle for my NFx and I find that perfectly ok. It moves a bit but to be fair he is round.
And with it slipping on a highland I am afraid it is almost impossible to find one that won't as she is a barrel.
I am torn between getting another TG at the cheaper price of £365 or the leather K &M at £695. If I get leather now I am hoping to not have to change again, but if I don't I know I won't be able to show her so will have to get a show saddle too or change for a leather one at some point..
But trying to be tight with the pennies where possible.
And I have to know by tomorrow as that's when the sale is arrghhh... Saddles...

i have a 17.5" highland and cob symonds saddle on ebay at the moment, finishing in two days. unbelieveably comfortable and secure saddle, do a quick search on symonds saddles, there's only 3 on there, mine is the highland and cob one
might be worth a look for the sort of money you want to spend.
