As title asks :-) I am on the committee of my small local riding club and I'm trying to think of money raising ideas for the coming year. Can anyone help?

Hi Ba, Well, i think you may have your work cut out with pennies being so tight for everyone just now ! You could have the members go out on the usual sponsored rides / pub quizes ( if there is a social side to the club ? ) and have them raise money for themselves. Bartering is good. If you know of a local rosette company who would supply you in return for their name and details being displayed at your shows etc, it will save you on actual expenses from the petty cash. Is the club affliated ? You could try running some really unique type of event which could include the local community and hopefully gain business support from local companies if the event is big enough ? Local Vets who might do an evening talk for you all at the local village hall one evening maybe ? Charge for people to come in and throw in some refreshments ? Feed companies ? A local RA who might like to do a short session where the group pay him or her to have some kind of demo ..... err.. coffee mornings / swop a horse day / Whatever you decide on, always check for any insurance cover needed especially if you are running something where claims could be a possibility. I am rushing but will give it more thought for you later x Good luck

Organise a table top tack sale. Find somewhere where the rent is cheap like a church hall or scouts hut. Charge £5 per stall, charge £3 for people to get in, all organisers make a loaf of sandwiches and a cake and sell refreshments like tea and coffee, juice, sandwiches and cake. Start it at around 11am so that people are there over dinner time. Advertise everwhere that is free like tack shops, feed merchants, facebook, leaflets in cars. It could be cheap to set up and if you do it about the end of Feb/early March peeps are thinking of the coming season, having a clear out to buy new stuff, trading saddles for new ponies and the like
