Jenny, we are teaching side saddle..... You can get short ones.....
However, How VERY dare you do the dressing up thing with Gazdag before I am ready to do pairs with you with Tuli Posh Pants! I even have the feathery hat and regency coat all ready to go......
Tuli is even shorter than Gazdag in the back, so we'll both have to be astride. Although, I am thinking of investing in a rack......

Sounds fab Jen and Gazdag would live fantastic. I've wanted to have a go at doing that with Simba for a while now and I'd love to do sidesaddle with him. Maybe you, Lisa and myself could do it together with our little grey horses it would look ace :-)

I plan to do a couple of these classes this year - have found a suitable costume on ebay, but plan to do it astride. I saw some last summer - how elegant they all looked. I don't think Jos and I will quite pull off elegant, but hey ho. There are two types of class I believe - one is the 'proper' one where you have elegant victorian/edwardian clothing. The other is the fancy dress version, where you see people with sleeveless dresses, etc.

I have been doing some reading, and as Concours d'Elegance translates literally as "Elegance Competition", one really should not have bare arms and precariously contained bosoms, lol! It is supposed to be the kind of dress which ladies would have worn when riding to the park to meet eligible young men in Victorian times I think, so definitely no flesh on show.
I have found someone who makes Concours outfits, not a bad price either considering they are M2M and to your own spec. We think Gazdag will suit black with a subtle hint of silver.
Lisa - I really want to come to a side saddle session, but you have annoyingly arranged it on the worst weekend of the year for me - tax return mayhem then, so I will be working. If you have another one, I will definitely come over, I have always wanted a go.
Pas de Trois with the naughty grey boys - definitely!! Let's arrange it ;D

What about a deep green or navy jen? That would look nice on a grey too Im so jealous I used to love watching and reading about horsewomen in flowing dresses cantering around the countryside! But a precariously contained bosom would have got you arrested back then!

Hmm, green would match my eyes and I do like navy too.... The other selling point about navy is that I would then only have to buy one top hat. If we ever reach the upper levels of dressage, I like to compete in a navy jacket so would need a navy top hat to match. If my concours outfit is black, I will need a black top hat for that and a navy one for the dressage..... Decisions, decisions......

Flippin' 'eck, she's worrying about whether to have a black or blue top hat, and there was me feeling ever so chuffed that Tuli actually extended his neck in walk today. I think I have a bit of catching up to do!

horsegossip.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=showclothes&action=display&thread=60134Link is to Concous D'Elegance costumes... I think you would would stunning - as Gazdag is a very handsome chap. One of my friends competes in Concours classes with her coloured. I think that she found her costume on Ebay. I do agree that side saddle would look so elegant. Having ridden side saddle on the simulator at YHL last November, a session on a live horse is definitely on my list of things to do this year.
