I have a Fell x Highland same size she lives out but has a stable which she can go in and out of as she pleases. I feed ad lib at this time of year as an empty hay net is one of my pet hates she always has some . As we come out of winter I decrease the amount as weather improves as she doesnt want as much.

Same as Gill, I don't like mine to run out of hay. They're out 24/7 with constant access to the yard so we just tie up a haynet per horse twice daily which seems to be doing them well as they can then choose whether to come stand on the yard and eat their hay or to wonder up to the field to forage for what little grass is left.
