Hi all. I really need some guidance on this one please, as I know the market for horses has been not so great recently. How much would you be thinking to pay for: 14.2hh Haflinger gelding, rising 7 years old. Well suited to endurance – really enjoys it and has excellent, strong unshod feet: has competed in a couple of fun and endurance rides last year including 32km at Penshurst training ride in August. Has begun schooling over the winter and is coming along really well. He also has an excellent jump developing! Very good to catch, well mannered to handle around the stable. Good doer (lives out 24/7); does not suffer from laminitis or sweet itch. can post pics / video if necessary but I don't really want to turn this into an advert as I just need some price guidance.

Does he hack out alone sensibly? Safe, well mannered hacks are always much in demand and will put his price up.
If so, I would have said £2k to £2.5k. Haflingers have a rep of being a little headstrong and self/strong willed, but if he is easy going, mother/daughter type, he will be worth more
Are you buying or selling? If selling, alot depend on if you are prepared to negotiate for the right home
Best of luck x

I would think £1500 if you are lucky! Not that he doesn't sound lovely but people can't give away horses just now.. Good luck, hope he finds a loving home.

id say about £2k to 2.8k he sounds like a bit of a diamond, one that would turn his hoof to anything

Thanks guys. Quite a variation in price estimates there! What I'd been thinking is about average between the top and bottom end of those ranges. He's not a novice ride as he's a sensitive, intelligent horse who very much takes his confidence from his rider - but with a rider who CAN give him that confidence, he's a complete star.

I have a couple of haflingers - depends as well on where he is bred? Is he British bred/ Austrian/Dutch bred? Sounds like he should be about 2500 but I have one for sale that does everything and jumps the moon but can't sell her so you may have to reduce price dramatically if you want to sell
