Hi everyone
Now Molly is with me 100% of the time, I've become more aware of subtle changes in her behaviour. She's just been in season, which seems maybe a little strange given that its mid-winter, but I know it isn't all that uncommon. However I am noticing that her behaviour does change when she is in season. She's not unrideable or really difficult, she just becomes more "opinionated" and she goes boy mad, a real slave to her hormones - If even I go behind her, her tail goes over to one side and her ****** winks. She won't leave our two geldings alone when she's in season.
Anyway, I was in a tack shop the other week and picked up some Dodson and Horrell "Stroppy Mare" which is a blend of various herbs (smells lovely!).
Much to my surprise, as I'm pretty sceptical about these things, it really seems to have had a profound effect on her behaviour, much calmer and more relaxed.
Anyone else tried this and had similar or different results?
Regards and happy new year everyone.

That's interesting! I might try some with my 4 yr old mare who is a rampant nympho for 9 months of the year! No gelding is safe from her prancing, squealing, bum flashing and 'winking' her wotsit My friends and I joke that she must have been 'on the game' in her previous life. She also has a strange fascination for objects that vibrate Seriously though, I shall try the Stroppy Mare, hopefully it'll have the same effect on Jasmine as it has on your mare. xx

I haven't tried it on mine (they're no trouble when in season apart from being complete trollops to any gelding within range for a few days ) but my friend's mare could be a bit of a right stroppy mare and it worked on her.

I kept my old mare, Poppy , on this virtually all the time - maybe a couple of months break in the winter months. It definitely soothed her hormonal tendancies! However she wouldnt touch the dried herb variety and always had the liquid in her feed.
