Found Sunny had got into the neighbouring paddock today ... yes, the one where all the long lank grass is. I could kick myself after spending SO long scrutinising every morsel that he eats: I hadn't secured the gate between the fields. From what i can see of the hay i left him with, he had eaten most of that so the assumption is that he hasn't been in there too long I spoke to Trevor and he agreed that i leave his hoof pads and boots on tonight and see how he is tomorrow. I am so cross with myself. Fingers and everything crossed please to hope that we come through this unscathed

Oh Lorraine, I hope he'll be OK, with any luck he wasn't in there for long. Most of the goodness will have gone out of the long grass by now anyway, it's the short grass I worry about. Fingers crossed, please keep us posted.

I agree with kafee, IMO long roughish grass at this time of the year is 100% safer than short overgrazed pasture. I'm sure he'll be fine, but fingers crossed anyway.

Another agreeing that long and lank is most probably better/safer than short and sweet! ;D Foggage! I'm sure he will be fine Lorriane and if there is a blip it will be small. Milly and Molly opened the pedestrian gate to the garden today so I left them for half an hour. When I went out to retrieve them, they had somehow got themselves back in the yard! I had closed the gate to stop Sophie following (big hoof prints and boggy lawns don't mix!). When I went out to move them back to the yard they had got themselves back and had even closed the gate behind themselves! ;D Lock back on now.

Thank you everyone. Julie has just been down to check on him and he is still up and eating his soaked hay. Normally that small net would have been finished hours ago, so i am guessing that the belly full of grass stopped him in his tracks a bit !! Its a good sign now though that he is happy and greedy enough to continue filling his face. Honestly, that boy will kill me with all this worry.

Well i was greeted by a yelling from his box this morning as apparently he still had room for breakfast ! My main worry was colic which is why Julie checked him through the night for me. After passing on from that initial worry, i then spent the night convinced i would be greeted with raging hot feet ... but happy to report nothing. I like nothing. I spent most of last night worrying between my brother trying to get from Brisbane back to Toowoomba ( which he cannot do ) His teenage girls being in Toowoomba and running low on food and Sunny stuffing his face and the consequences of that !!!!! Thankfully i can calm down a little on all three fronts x
