This is where I appreciate her so much having a safe horse on the roads. Vicky was such a star, we are both loving our hacking, and today we had gale force winds and rain, main road is closed so diversion is along the lane we had all sorts come past us, did she move nope, not a inch. Four tractors and trailers came past. Sorry just had to share. Kate

They are worth a fortune - trying to find one for loan for a friend of mine at moment - is yours a older horse then?

Yes Picasso is very useful...except when he's overtaken by others then he thinks he's a racehorse ;D

vab I have been approached about a local horse - bought (from a riding school) as a confidence giver and did the job well but owner has health problems which mean she has to give up keeping horses. Late teens, approaching 16hh, gelding I think, IDx type - let me know if your friend might be interested. Permanent loan terms, probably has some items of a wardrobe to go with him.

Hi Jill,
Sadly he is probably too big for her she wants 14hh - 15hh really and also don't think the stable she has would be big enough for a 16hh horse. Thanks anyway she has a nice mare at the moment but owner is going to sell her in the summer so we are looking around for something else.

I think older sensible types are a massively underappreciated bunch - especially amongst buyers

That's lovely Eden, I think the 'been there got the t-shirt' oldies are worth their weight in gold. If I decide to buy another horse I will look for exactly that, and what's more would enjoy keeping them comfortable through their autumn years - not sold on again and again like an unwanted toy.

If they're worth their weight in gold then I'm rich My two, who both turn 18 this year are solid reliable citizens who know their jobs and are a pleasure to be around.

My section D mare is 21 has life but is so reliable to hack out its a pleasure to ride her she still spooks a bit but never does anything really worrying now. I have a 4 year old D about to be backed in March and part of me is looking forward to hacking her out be am also worried about it am just hoping she will be a sensible girl being ridden as has been the perfect youngster with manners and never giving you any problems

Trouble is that I would love one (my old girl died a few years back) but can't find one!

I, too, am rich, as I have two, and they are wonderful! My 'childrens' ponies, both 14.2hh. Go out for a hack, no problem, go to a show, no problem, turn up late to feed: "hello, nice to see you, knew you'd come"!
Whereabouts are you vab?

I owned my old boy for 10 years and after the first couple of years became the 'go anywhere do anything' horse (when i got him he was 10) Its was a true gent and 110% safe, he was even borrowed my a chap who couldnt ride who wanted to propost to his girlfriend on a big white horse ! this guy got on him wearing a gladiator outfit had a landrover following him with music blaring out full blast and when he got outside the girlfriends house she leant out of the upstairs window to see what all the commotion was about and then started to scream her head off My dear old boy stood there perfectly calm and collected and did the guy proud, the girlfriend accepted the proposal once she calmed down! I miss my old boy so much
