Horse and Hound's ones to watch in 2011? I'm sure I recognise the name, you must be very proud.

Hi Liza , Rhos Emperor was not bred by me but I did breed his father Derwent Rainbow Bandit, so he is my " grandchild " ha ha However, yes I am VERY proud that he has been featured , although I'm quite superstitious about these things and I hope it doesn't put the mockers on his chances lol. ;D

Jen I don't know if there is a link. It's a big article telling you which horses are tipped for success 2011 in every disiplin, in this week's edition. Emperor is the "Show Pony to watch "

SS3 Were you connected with Derwent Red Marvel then? Long story (probably not worth telling unless you were!)

Sarah are you sure this wasn't Derwen Red Marvel( Welsh ) No one else in the UK can use the prefix Derwent as I have been sole owner of that prefix since 1976

You are right it was Derwen and he was half Welsh. Years and year and even more years ago, the court where I was working was the subject of a review by a management consultancy. Each of the members of staff were interviewed. I went in for my interview and spent the whole time talking about horses as the woman that ws interviewing me owned the lovely Derwen Red Marvel! Not that long a story really but obviously completely irrelevant!!
The prefix for my ponies is Sherekhan (this is irrelevant too!). Most New Forest ponies have a prefix that relates to somewhere on the Forest and my favourite place is the Sherekhan Indian Restaurant.

Oh Sarah that's sooo funny ;D What a brilliant reason for choosing a prefix lol I chose Derwent, because I lived up the road from the "Derwent Dam " (where they filmed the Dambusters--------a film even I hardly remember it was so long ago lol) I thought it flowed nicely with the names of Ballets which all my foals are named after ps D Rainbow Bandit is the 2nd and 4th foal in my signature The one of him trotting is when he was Supreme foal in Show at the Ponies UK Summer Champs .
