Just read a snippet that garden lime sprinkled on bedding or under stable matting breaks down the amonia smell. Now that sounds good. Has anybody tried it?

Dont know about that, but isnt lime liable to burn? Do know baking soda gets rid of smells though and can be used as a cleaning aid.

I have a product called Biodry, powder in a sack, I have had it at least 2 years and barely used 1/4 of it. I think I got it from local agricultural/feed merchants, and I seem to remember it wasn't cheap, but I sprinkle a small scoop full on the wet patches and they do seem to be dryer and less smelly. I like deep litter and to have a base that is fairly solid so prefer not to remove wet down to the floor - this helps a lot.

I was thinking that after I had posted.
