Her mum was rescued by me from a notorious dealer in Dartford. She was going for slaughter as really lame behind. I offered double the knackerman's price and took her home to give her a few nice months, maybe longer. She was a walking skeleton and covered in lice and cuts where the other horses had bitten her. Two months later we discovered she was in foal. The vet estimated her due in February and thought she would be ok to foal. She was the sweetest, most gentle mare with lovely manners. Obviously the vet was way out! We arrived to feed on Christmas morning to find Jasmine in situ and the afterbirth neatly buried in the corner of the stable! Erin, Blaze and Jas went everywhere together. Blaze kept the other horses away from the foal and the two mares would wash Jas all over, taking a side each, and sleep with her between them. Erin became progressively more lame and was buted up to the eyeballs. When it got to the point that she really didn't want to be here anymore we had to make the decision to have her pts. It was awful. Blaze took Jas on as her own and they have been together ever since. Jas has weaned herself naturally and they are easily separated but choose to spend most of their time together. I think Erin would be proud of the horse Jas has grown up to be, Blaze has done an amazing job considering she has never foaled herself, bless her!

Such a sad story some dealers should be shot. I'm sure she would be very proud of her baby girl... She's gorgeous just like her mum x

Happy Birthday Jas. Such a happy and sad story. You must be so proud of Blaze fostering Jas for you and continuing teaching her to be a horse for Erin.
