Had an equine dentist/reiki practitioner to the horses yesterday and have to say I was more on the sceptical side than open minded and have to say I was pleasantly surprised!
He was talking about one of the others then said, the grey wants to know why she doesnt get carrots anymore....well you could have picked me and her owner up off the floor! She hasnt had carrots for about a month since she choked on one and had to go to the vets!
Apparently Whinney thinks of me as a beacon of light which is rather nice, she is happier with me than she was before and has lots of future hope (although he thought some of that was coming from me). He said to watch her left eye as he felt there was a problem there, well it was her left eye that the vet thought had a speck in it at the vetting but it was clear when they knocked her out.
He said she would prefer more western style riding than using the bit a lot etc. So am going to have to have a look into some lessons for me!
Anyone else had any experiences, positive or negative, of reiki?

I think there was a bit af animal communication going on there bertie as well as the reiki ... I am a level 2 reiki practitioner and reiki on its own as a therapy prob would not entail somthing as specific as the carrots or the western riding . - and you being a beacon of light ..... although you may well be ;D ;D ;D Picking up the eye problem would be quite usual though for a reiki practitioner..... after all all illnesses are / create an imbalance on our energy fields and thats what we are tuning into with reiki. Having said that when I am doing distance healing sessions especially I sometimes get "pictures" from animals which are often relevant to the owners when I tell them what I have seen / felt. Know what you mean about feeling sceptical ... I was very sceptical till I tried it . used to be very "science" / "prove it" kinda person

Reiki is hands-on or remote energy healing and works very successfully for all sorts of animals or organic matter. What you describe is animal communication - the communicator picks up feelings and thoughts from the horse and communicates them to you.

I am Reiki 2 practioner and echo the thoughts of the lovely people, that Reiki is an energy therapy, great for stress reduction and relaxation as well as healing. The person you had out to your horses sounds very gifted in the art of communication, so good for him! Animal Communication is an avenue I am currently learning, exploring........
Best wishes to you and your horses xx

oops my apologies I got confused, he does do reiki too but he was doing the other with ours. It was absolutely fascinating.
Another thing he said was that my mare had been worked in a pessoa and she didnt like it - I saw her old owner the other day and she confirmed she had been worked in a pessoa - something else he couldnt possibly have known!
