I've searched youtube for videos of horses bucking like mine does and I can't find any... but it's remarkably like these gazelle... fast forward to 38 seconds on this clip, and that's what my horse does, except he does it with his head between his front legs www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5IJBbA6UkA&feature=related

I have been! He's done it more when long lining, and he used to do it when led. When he first did it on the long lines I just stood there and laughed a he looked so ridiculous but it's very difficult to ride!!

Wow! Wouldn't fancy sitting those out, lol! Jasmine does handstands, but thus far has only done them when she is turned out (frantically touches wood )

Yikes, you've brave to keep getting back on him if he's going to do things like that!

That's Bracken's buck with saddle years ago. One of the reasons I've never ridden him.

Mandal, Talin's is to do with the saddle too. When he's playing in the field he does 'normal' bucks or more normal type (as in jump then buck) bronking, he reserves this for trying to get his saddle (or me) off

lol I wish! Most of that is bunny hopping which isn't especially difficult to sit to, a bit like an exaggerated canter. My horse puts his head down and keeps it there, rounds his back and jumps with all four feet at the same time, like the gazelle in the video I posted. I haven't ever seen another horse do it like mine does, and can't find any videos on youtube Kafee - either brave or mad lol! Blazesmum - yes I did think if I can't turn him into a nice riding horse I could hire him out for rodeos lol!!

Yes, that's what Bracken did. All four feet up at once with head between his feet moving forward a few feet at a time right round the field! Cue Sarah Dent for help. I'm not a good rider so no way was I going to even attempt getting on him even when he became able to stand relaxed with girth done up months later. Over the years I've had the urge to sit on him bare in occasional moments when it just felt right but I'm too crumbly now to risk it. We gave up on the saddle training a while ago now.

Well in a sad sort of way it's nice to hear Talin's not the only one. Interesting that it's the saddle that causes it for Bracken too. I was only brave enough to ride Talin because I backed him bareback, I only saw his reaction to the saddle later on! Now I'm tempted to go back to bareback except now I've experienced his bucking I'm not brave enough!!

Wow that is a real mean horse. Breeze plays up some times but they are more bunny hops but I still don't like them.

when you watch a bucking bronc at a rodeo I'm sure you've noticed the very tight rear cinch, maybe a change of standard girth would help in the ones who react to the saddle or possibly some massage in the girth area - can't see a rear cinch on the gazelle ....I wonder why they do it....possibly to keep maximum flexibility.
