I did shampoo mine just once because I felt I was getting a build-up..............big mistake, may hair went brittle and flyaway and it has taken several weeks to get back to where we were. Lesson learned! Other than that it has been great, it really suits my fine hair.

Gave up the ghost and, after ruining my hair thru colouring, am on some heavy duty salon only stuff but hair looks great again!

Jill, were u no poo or Naked products? Im finding mine is a little greasy underneath (only on 3rd use of products in a row) but it is improving, it is soooo soft and shiny! And thats with just the shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair. Smells nice too, and my scalp is much less itchy. Hoping for good things with the other stuff thats on its way

Gordo, my hair is ruined too from flipping colouring, its a vicious circle tho did think about going lighter again, and have stopped myself as it always gets so dry and damaged i might try and ween myself off and only use semi's now. Also need to have it cut more often, and not straighten it so much! hair has become more manageable now, so its not so bush like lol!

No poo - I have been using Morrisons cheap own brand conditioners but they do do what they say on the tin and the best for me is the moisturising one for dry hair. Used to use Tresemme and that was good, also Dove, but I'm not sure what silicones they contain.

I've been no poo (or conditioner) since July(ish). Just do Daisy's(?) bicarb and apple cider vinegar thing. Hair's fine, does seem a bit less split endy and static. Not really shiny, but it never has been. Has anybody seen or tried the Body Shop "rainforest" products, which claim to have no silicones or parabens?

Someone explain the beginning of this thread cos i feel Ive come in half way through....
If by no poo you mean no SLS or parabens im on that band wagon as I get an itchy head and mine went very thin after dying it a lot as a teen. Its now back to its full uncontrollable mentalness ;D
I either use green people shampoos or Say Yes to Carrots/Tomatos (moisturising and volumising respectively)

Nope they actually mean no shampoo - you use conditioner to 'wash' your hair.

Ive now been no poo for about 18 months and my hair is in the best condition it ever has been in my life! I use Boots own cheapie brand conditioner for normal hair it is 58p a bottle. But I do colour it with Natural Blonde No8 about every eight weeks so I suppose that stops build up and it is a bit like a shampoo as you lather it up at the end to rinse it off. I wash my hair in conditioner once or twice a week, depending n how much Ive been riding. Hat hair has to be 'washed'!

www.wikihow.com/Follow-the-Curly-Girl-Method-for-Curly-Hair - it's based on that, but TBH I didn't do all the cleansing and messing about, I just stopped using shampoo which strips out the natural oils and cleansed my haiir once or twice a week with conditioner. You may find your hair feels greasy for a week or two but hang on in there and the scalp and hair adjusts itself so that after just using conditioner it feels clean, even squeaky. Mine has changed in much the same way your hands change from being scratchy and rough when you start to use a good hand cream.

really interesting read thanks Jill! Mines not curly so much as coarse and wavy and rather thick : (
I do use sulphate free shampoos but have to say I only condition once or twice a week cos of the grease factor. Maybe wait til after xmas then have a go at jus the conditioning thing?
