Following a great suggestion from cobstar in a recent thread on riding, the aids and how to train horses, The Holistic Equitation Centre will be holding:
*********** An Open Demo and Discussion Day on SUNDAY OCT 17th **********
Derek and Jo Clark will explain and demonstrate with their own horses how they use the classical aids in a simple, holistic and IH-friendly system that includes free schooling, leading, work in-hand, lunging (that benefits rather than damages horses), riding and long reining.
By special request from cobstar, there will be plenty of time for "in depth 'geek level' technical discussions about the finer points of the aids" as well as plenty fun and laughter, tea/coffee and biscuits, IH-minded folk keen for a friendly chat and a chance to meet some of the names you've seen being extremely helpful on the DG (and occasionally blowing off a little steam... lol! ;D ). Attendees already confirmed include Amanda Seater, Lisap, jennyb, cobstar, sixfootblonde, DebbieR, bertie666 and several friends they will be bringing with them.
The aim of this day is to share and exchange information and ideas and have a good time in the process! Entry is free and any donations you may feel like making will go to our official charity, The Brooke Hospital for Animals.
Also present and looking forward to meeting you all will be Jo's horse Perry, the 17.1 hh Hannoverian who stars in IHRAs Adam Goodfellow and Nicole Golding's latest book, "Born to Whisper". Perry is a former extremely unhappy competition dressage horse who was saved by a combination of IH and classical work and is the inspiration behind what is now The Holistic Equitation Centre. You can read his story here: www.holisticequitation.co.uk/success.html

Date: Sunday 17th Oct
Start Time: 10:00am
Please note, we have one of those unfortunate postcodes that will take you to the wrong place if you put it into a satnav or online mapping tool. There is an accurate map on the contact page of our website at: www.holisticequitation.co.uk/contact.html
All other maps should be treated with suspicion!
Please drop us an email or post on this thread if you would like to come along, just so we know how many biscuits to buy in!
We hope to see you there...
