RIP Caspars mum, and mum to 6 other lovely foals over the years, who was found dead in the field this morning. Eyes open, no sign of any struggling, looks like it was instant and straighforward, at the age of just 22. Poor old girl had struggled with horrendous pigeon toes all her life (destined for the meat man when I bought her so she had 19 years she otherwise wouldn't have had) and was reaching a point where I would have had to consider her future. No more sore feet or joints now, swiftly and easily onto Rainbow Bridge by the look of things. But Caspar wants to know where his mum has gone!

Sad to hear she gone, but i hope it brings you some comfort that she went in the field with her friends around her, happy, loved and as quickly as you could hope for. xx

Despite seeing her in the field yesterday, he is still stressing this morning, poor lad. He always whinnied to her when she went out for her walks down the road, even though he is 13 and she has had 6 other foals and been to stud 6 times since he was weaned. There always seemed to be that connection, maybe it was just as field mates though.
