I.e. not using shampoo, but just cleansing with conditioner? Have you found a conditioner without silicones? There was a list published but I couldn't find any of them, I think they must have been from the US. And have you shampooed every once in a while or not at all? I haven't touched the stuff in 17 months and my hair is the har I always wanted but couldn't get - but I do think I may have a build up of silicones, some of it is getting a little bit brittle. So I want to find a cone free conditioner if I can, but the labels are really hard to read if there is one.

Me! Boots do a few that are silicone free the cheapest is 58p per bottle. It is in an opaque bottle and is a turquoise colour. They also do one that is their own 'Hair Expert' range and that is around £1.60 I think, but I actually prefer the cheaper one. The only time mine gets 'shampooed' is when I put a dye on it that is a rinse out shampoo type dye. I wouldnt bother but have to get rid of the grey. Have been on it for nearly a year now and have never looked back, my head was always itchy even though I spent a fortune on dandruff shampoos and sensitive scalp shampoos, Im saving money and the planet!

me, i dont use shampoo and i dont brush my hair anymore ,lol its great , i comb through with condidtioner, but i did do the whole 6/8 week and just used water and my hair was great, cleansing with contitioner atm, but it makes me scalp dry and itchy, getting to 8 weeks without usuing anything was hard ,but it is true your hair does self cleanse, but as ive got masses of hair and always brushing mud off the horses, my 800 count egyption cotton bedding thats pure white ,lol couldnt cope, it was the pillowcases or the hair one had to go, or start washing it again,

Hi Ladies I'm a no poo girl! I have naturally curly hair and stopped using shampoo months ago. My hair is the best it's ever been. The trick is to not use anything with silicones in including styling products as the silicones can build up on your hair and only shampoo will get rid of them. I use Inecto coconut conditioner ( £1.49 for a huge bottle from superdrug or Savers etc) to 'wash' my hair then I rinse that off then put more on to condition it. Once or twice a week I use Boots Honey and Jojoba deep conditioning mask which is fab and only costs £1.99 ish. Fructis is also ok to use To style I use Umberto Gianni curl friends gel. If you need to shampoo you can use a sodium laureth sulphate free shampoo (it's sls that dries the hair) Naked make a good one. There is loads of info and lists of products on www.naturallycurly.com or it's British sister site www.britishcurlies.co.uk

I havent tried no 'poo, but found this for you: answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071209081330AApCSaIalso i have some John masters organic shampoo and conditioner. There are 2 conditioners listed on there, and im sure if you contacted them via email: www.johnmasters.co.uk/ im sure they would be able to tell you. They have some nice products, use essential oils in them too and they smell yummy. I suffer from a really itchy scalp, and i have found one shampoo which is a keep it clear Avon one, and its the only one i can use with out getting an itchy head. Conditioner doesnt seem to have too much of a problem, but guess using a shampoo, conditioner and products with silicone is too much for my itchy head lol!

shampoo can dry/or make your scalp over produce oil, but if you just cleanse with conditioner it makes your hair curlier, ive stopped using shampoo, and only wash with conditioner when it needs it,

naturalhairrules.blogspot.com/2009/02/how-to-follow-curly-girl-method-for.htmlMy hair isn't curly, but very fine and flyaway, and tending towards dry, and I didn't use a special shampoo but just "washed" my hair with conditioner. I still blow dry it and use straighteners as well. It can take a couple of weeks for your hair to adjust (i.e. stop over producing sebum, its natural oil) but after that it keeps that natural oil and feels surprisingly clean after using the conditioner. I compare mine now to feeling like rough hands do after using a really good hand cream.

i really am considering it, but have a enormous bottle of shampoo in the cupboard. Told my mum about it too, as she suffers really badly with her scalp.

Hmmmm , i lasted 5 days ...... last night i "washed" my hair with warm water and the juice from a freshly squeezed lemon ...... my hair was a congealed concoction of greasy nastiness afterwards, gave it the benefit of the doubt til this morning, when i woke up and scared myself half to death with the new Mohican i was sporting ...... I gave in and used shampoo !!!! I may try again ... but most definitely need a shampoo of some description, one with out SLS and silicones ... !!!!
