I am so pleased I have these now,12 months since they arrived. When I returned from our holiday over xmas.. yes we missed the 1st nasty large lot..which then turned to rain which we also missed.!! Lucky us I must say.
The temps dropped very quick and the rutts caused by the wet became nasty nasty frozen hard lumps with ice in large area inside the gateway .. Flynn was struggling to walk in over it till Tuesday I could only get him in by feed bucket and then it still took lots of tempting.. him so belly led still did not rish for the food. I got him in and thought no way will I get him out and back in later for Adi to trim..so he stayed in daytime Tuesday.. me of great ideas for others forgot the boots.. Adi immedialty said why not put his boots on! and what a difference.. and he didnt slide all about as we led him back out in the snow which had really started to fall and settle. Well to make his life easier I have kept them onas well. Hoofwings say they are the only boot you can safely turn out in. Well they have been on since Tues night. Still on fine and he is hadling the nasty ground far better. Might try to get him back in stable tomorrow for a check over.. and groom.. see what the weather does to us first.

I resorted to booting 2 of mine the other night as well Susan as they even had pulses in back feet from trying to walk over it and favouring their front feet, boots on and no pulses and happy ponios, have taken them back off since the further snow as field is now softly covered and easier to walk on but will boot them back up if it gets rocky again.
I had the same problem last yr with the same 2 ponies and did the same, booted them up and hey presto happy ponies.

They're all different aren't they, my two have had their shoes pulled for the winter and neither of them have been struggling on the frozen rutted ground.
