With more snow on the way and showers daily until Wednesday at least, temperatures not getting above freezing, grit running low and only major roads being treated, power cut threats and supplies of animal products potentially being affected PLEASE BE CAREFUL. Locally we are not as badly hit as others as the yard is just 1 mile off a major road and we have hay on site, water is a major issue but there is one tap (hot and cold) in the toilet that has not frozen yet so we can defrost the outside tap to fill buckets. I also know that Straw seems to be short in places this year and of course we are paying out lots for feed and bedding at the moment. Loony horses is another issue, turn out is limited to how long they are willing to stand around for and riding is completely out of the question.. boredom breaking ideas anyone? Fingers crossed that you all have arrangements in place to get through this cold (freezing) snap. xx

Yeh I know what you mean. Not ridden horses for weeks now. Luckily they live out 24/7

Never mind more bad weather and low grit stocks... some numpty actually nicked a steel grit bin in Glasgow... yes, they would have had lifting equipment in order to nick it..... it's bad enough that the weather puts us at risk, but that bism has also risked lives!! news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/glasgow_and_west/8448134.stm
