I can hardly believe what I just read. I so hope they are caught. RIP little one and speedy recovery to the lucky foal.

How cruel! I hope the remaining one recovers. People are getting worse every day.

Extremely sad :-( poor little souls. RIP little ones. I only hope this was an accident and not a malicious attack :-( if it was I hope they catch the culprit and get what they deserve :-(

there is no nobility in causing suffering like that. What an inadequate human being. How can you justify that? Maybe a caretaker's cottage on site should be considered?

The field leads straight off the yard where Val lives.

Sheesh. Shocking that it's happened in what is obviously a field on private property, not out on the moorland. Where can they be safe? And foals too - what tough targets they would make (sarcasm).
Over here, it was reported recently that somebody has shot over 100 brumbies in southern NSW in the past year. That includes foals. Not an official cull (not that that would be OK) but some sick thrill-seeker.

Very sad, sickening and worrying news.
This sounds to me like the actions of inept poachers, who are shooting where they do not have permission to shoot, wrongly identifying the prey in the dark, and failing to kill with one shot thus causing unneccessary suffering. How many deer have they shot and wounded in a similar fashion, that are now wandering around with their injuries? This is not legitimate gamekeepering.
