The little bay pony's passport matches in every other way, and the sticker on his bum matched the sticker on the passport, but, his legs had a sort of creamy greyish hair on them, and it is clearing to reveal a white sock!!! so now, he does not match his passport...... what can I do?

update the passport and the passport issuers?? if he's young/unhealthy but becoming healthy surely other aspects will change as his coat/general being changes?

Could you not have a vet reassess for passport?

Hi Jackiedo,
if you ring the New Forest Breed and Cattle Society office and speak to Jane, she'll tell you what you need to do. She's usually very friendly. I think the phone number is in the passport. They must come across this sort of thing pretty often as a lot of foals change colour in the first year. It's not easy for them to record their identities when they wriggle about so much!

See the little chestnut pony in the snow below? His passport says he is palomino. He is now 8 and we've had him 18 months. Never been palomino since I've had him. Chestnut with flaxen mane & tail. Does it matter? I expect it does for Jackie and a youngster, but for us? Should I change it?

It's if you are ever questioned Dragonmaster, or the passport needed to prove ID

Leo`s original passport missed out a white sock too. As he was on his way to the abattoir I don`t suppose the original passport markings would have been that important to him......The breed society people were fine about it when we went along to ask for advice.
I expect you will be getting the passport updated when your colt is gelded anyway?
Hope you are enjoying the NF babies, and it`s good to see you back!
