Hi Guys
I'm looking for a wrist-mounted GPS for riding - both trail riding and endurance rides so was wondering if anyone on here had any advice? I've been looking at the Garmin 305 but its a bit big and chunky as well as being aimed more at runners (lots of blurb about lap times and improving heart rate spikes)
Any thoughts? ;D

The Garmins are what the endurance riders use. All the technology is firstly designed for runners/cyclists and we horsey people have stolen them

I use a Garmin Forerunner 101 for endurance rides. It's one of the more basic models, but it still does everything I need (speed, distance, time, lap "ride" history) and more - it also has some functions which I haven't got a clue about.
I think my model has now been superceded, but I've got no immediate plans to upgrade it, as it suits my needs perfectly.
It's size is 8cm long, 4cm wide and 2cm thick and it fits onto the wrist with a velcro strap. I can honestly say that it's never got in the way or been uncomfortable when I've ridden whilst wearing it.

the garmins are the best. If you buy a human garmin forerunner from ebay so its relatively cheap, there is a company in america that sells conversion kits so they can be used on horses to give an accurate pulse too, it works out much cheaper than buying a horsey GPS/HRM... will see if i can find their website

I use a Garmin Forerunner 205 for pleasure / endurance rides, general hacking (interesting to see how long and far you ride in each pace, etc) and I always wear it for hunting as that's REALLY interesting in terms of speed/ mileage covered etc!! I have one horse set on "Biking" and the other horse set on "Other" for downloading the charts onto the computer. It's great, never ride without it really - they're quite addictive, and it's never ever got in the way or felt bulky. I've had mine for three years or so now. It used to record my young mare napping. Worse case was 35 minutes of planting and reversing which all showed up on the computer read out and map afterwards!! (Hasten to add she's outgrown all this now!)
