The new pony i have appears to be very itchy/lumpy/scabby.
I have gone over her with a fine tooth comb (well nit comb actually lol ;D ) and can`t find any lice, though she is a bit scurfy. She is lumpy/scabby round/under her chin, under her neck and the top/back of her legs (behind either side of where her tail sits).
She doesn`t have any lumps/scabs/scurf/itchyness on her bum/back or on her lower legs/feathers. She lives our (has done since the year dot apparently) and she isn`t rugged.
Nothing has changed in her diet ...... only the move from her old home to here (so different grass i suppose if that can affect them ? ?) But some of the scabs look to have been there a while, i`ve tried giving her a good grooming and added sudocream to the ithey/scabby bits, but nothing seems to be working, any idea`s ? ?

What did the vet say when you had her vetted? (I am assuming this is the NF pony you just bought)
Did he/she suggest a blood test or anything?

Yes its Dixie, I didn`t have a vetting .... heck, lol, the vetting would have cost more than she did lmao !! I`ve just spoken to our vet, who has been fab, and i`m going to pick up some malaseb (sp?) shampoo tomoro. If that hasn`t had an effect in the next 7-10 days then i`m taking her in to the vets on the 15th to be checked. Just though someone on here might have had a similar experience of lumpy bumpy scabbyness .....

My mare remains scurfy through the winter, though isn't rubbing anymore. She couldn't be a mild Sweet Itch case, could she? Melaseb is good stuff, but the Dermoline does just as good a job and is also insecticidal. I bought in bulk last time and 2.5L cost the same as 500ml Melaseb.

just re check the scurf again, wet it and see if you can see anything that could resemble a minuscule translucent flake , reminded me of a what looked like chop , when rolled between thumb nails they pop, there 2 kind of lice 2 winters ago a horse brought biting lice on my place, took us ages to find the bleeders , wasn't till we wet the horse bit we notice a grayish kind of scum , sucking lice are bigger and easy to see, sucking lice have no colour other than a brown minute spot and there the adults the others have no colour and they don't move to the naked/knackered lol eye, we are taking no bigger than the sharp end of a pin , they tend to group in the jowls, chest .arm pits , good luck,
