Hi Folks. A quick introduction (I shan't bore you with a complete life history). I live in North East Scotland and I have 2 horses and a wee pony. Dennis the Menace, Danny Boy & Tricky. We all do endurance (Danny & Tricky did their first pleasure ride this summer) Menace has his 1st Bronze Thistle Qualifier. If it hadn't been for Monty I'm certain I would not even have been riding the Menace, let alone doing endurance rides. Nor would I ever even have had the other 2. Menace was a wannabe rodeo bronco . Danny and Tricky were given to me because of how much progress I had made with the Menace (thanks to Monty). Danny is a reforming bucker and Tricky a rearer (tho thankfully not ever with me). I keep all my boys as naturally as possible within my abilities - Barefoot, winter out with shelter etc. I also ride all my boys in a Dually. I volunteered at the 5 day foundation course in 2008, now hoping to do the course 2010. I also helped out at the demo in Gleneagles in October this year. If any of you have the opportunity to help out/volunteer at a demo or course I thoroughly recommend it.

Hi and welcome to the DG. We live in the Midlands but come up to Mull most years for a holiday whizzing round on my friends lovely Highland ponies.
Would love to know more about the work you have done with your horses, sounds like their lives have improved beyond belief since they came to you.

Hi Casper,
Sounds like you have fun with the highlands in Mull.
There's not much to tell about the work I've done with my boys. I haven't performed any miracles. I just allow them to live in a herd and be horses. I try not to humanise them. I respect them and ask that they respect me.
I did a join up with each of them in turn and we never rushed anything. When they 'speak'to me I try to listen (I'm not always very good at listening, so sometimes they have make their point a bit firmer before my brain engages! ;D ). We manage to have quite a good working relationship and that's the main thing.

Hello EM & thanks for sharing about your boys. I did the 5 day foundation course back in May, it was a life-changing course! I'll be helping out at the Southview demo in Cheshire in February.

Hi Equinemenace,
Go North East DGers! Based down the road from you in Aberdeen. Lots of snow your way?
Think I remember you from Gleneagles demo - you do the mm rescue don't you? It was a fantastic demo. Loved the heart rate monitor stuff and watching Kelly, Pie, Monty and Copy doing their stuff!
Great to see you on the board.
