As many of you know, I went out to work in Kenya for a month in the summer. There is a real issue over there with finding decent saddles particularly for ponies. I am trying to get hold of five decent pony saddles to send to one lady that I met and worked with. She has 21 horses of various shapes and sizes including six ponies that she has brought down from Ethiopia. They were in a terrible state when they arrived along with a further eight, seven of which she has rehomed and one of which was unfortunately eaten by hyena en route with the transporter! Ordinarily I wouldn't ask for help but Jo is doing her best to give these ponies a nice life to the best of her ability and resources.
David and I have already donated a good deal of time to working with the horses, the owners and the grooms. I have managed to source some correcter numnahs at cost. Can anyone help me with cheap but good saddles? 16" or 16 1/2/ would be ideal.

I have one that might be of use. I'll need to measure it but it is small and narrow and I've been wondering what to do with it. It is also good quality thogh old. I would like some money for it, assuming it's suitable. How much can you afford? I paid £150 for it.

Sorry Dragonmaster - I hadn't looked at this thread for a while. Unfortunately I am after wide fit saddles as they are for the Ethiopian ponies who are quite round like New Forest ponies. For once, their backs are undamaged - unlike the polo ponies and racehorses that I saw. Thank you very much for the offer though.

I have a saddle, its not english leather and is 17.5 or 18 if it's any use at all to you. Its reasonably wide fit i used it to get my youngster used to a saddle prior to his early demise
