Hello and welcome to you and your ponies.
Great to see the Scottish contingent growing. I haven't visited your part of the world but a couple of years ago one of my daughters was on the Uists and Benbecular working at catching hedgehogs who were then transported to the mainland for release.

Oh are hedgehogs a pest on some Islands then or are they invaders?? Eating ground nesting birds eggs I expect is their crime?? Welcome lochmaddyer25.

The Hedgehogs were introduced here and are not native. As the Uists and Benbecula are well known for the rare birds which breed here - the hedgehogs lose! At first they were being captured and culled, bur more recently they are just being captured and released on the mainland. Don't know why they didn't do that in the first place! The only hedgehogs I have seen here are poor wee dead ones on the roads!

Welcome to the IHDG Lochmaddyer25. I've never been to your island but go to Mull every year to see a friend who has some lovely Highlands. We've got a Highland pony called Hamish, got him in May.

Thnaks for the warm Welcomes!! I've 'holidayed' on Mull too Casper, but only once - it was beautiful too. You must bring Hamish for a holiday in the Uists sometime! Loads of deserted beaches to ride on! Can't wait until my boy is at the stage I can go for long lonely beach rides!! I've just won a trailer on 'eBay' - so roll on next summer!

That sounds blissful where you are Lochmaddyer. Would so love to be closer to a beach, we live in Northants which is one of the most landlocked counties. But hope to be moving in a year or so, and with any luck will be closer to some beaches.
Hamish was 2 in June and we won't be backing him until he is 4. But what a lovely dream to have, riding on a beautiful Scottish beach.
Well done on the trailer, it is great having your own transport, you can go absolutely anywhere you like.
