Hi everyone ;D
Since joining this forum a while back and after making a few posts, for one reason and another I tended to lurk as opposed to post so I thought it would be good to kind of re-introduce myself to you lovely lol
Ok, so my name is Sam, everyone calls me Sams for some reason. I am based in Herefordshire in the UK.
I am a qualified Riding Instructor, and work in Equine training and rehab, using natural methods. I use a lot of clicker training and do a lot of Liberty work with my horses.
I specialise in "problem" horses but also work in Equine Welfare and all of my horses are rescues.
Firstly I have my main horse, Kiwi. He is a 17yr old NZ Standardbred, standing at 15.1hh. Kiwi was deemed to old to race (ex pacer) at the age of 9yrs from which he was then beaten and abandoned in a field. I rescued him and re-trained him. Now we do a bit of everything from SJ, XC, dressage and hunting and we have both just started a tiny bit of western riding, purely for fun and a bit different. Kiwi is my absolute rock and we have been through so much together. I wouldn't part with him for anything;
Next we have Chunky. Chunky is a 13.2hh Traditional cob Gelding. Chunky comes from a very abusive past. He was worked very hard in harness from a very young age. Chunky is now fully retired and enjoying every minute of life;
Abbey is my 2nd riding horse. She is an 8yr old Welsh Section D x Irish Cob standing at 14.1hh. Abbey again has gone through some rough times in the past, starting at only 8months old when she was rescued from meat. Abbey does have some ridden issues which we are slowly working through. I am very excited for what the future will bring for Abbey. Abbey wasn't backed until a 5yr old so has very "low mileage";
Last but far from least we have Lewyn, an unregistered Welsh Section A pony. Lewyn has been for me for just 3months after I rescued him from meat. He came in very emaciated so most of this three months have been spent building up his condition. Lewyn is now starting to be backed, taking it very slowly as he is still incredibly nervous of strangers, he has got his confidence with me but lacks with other people;
So that's me and my gang ;D
