Oh Sarah,
So sorry to hear this. I was very happy to meet you at last, last weekend at the conference, just shows how a week can make so much difference in our lives and what life can throw at us within such a short space of time.
You gave him a wonderful home and this must be a comfort to you.
Hugs,
Heather

Last summer I bought a lovely 3 year old Exmoor colt to show. The vet came out to geld him and he would not go under anaesthetic at all. Eventually they decided to knock him completely out and lie him down. Just as they were ready to cut he went mental and got up fully sedated even with my friend sitting on his head. It was awful, he was thrashing around all over the stable and all we could do was hold him up with cross ropes until he came round enough not to bash hid head. He was literally like a fish flipping and flailing around wildly. It was awful. I made the decision to sell him on as a stallion as I cant have another stallion on here. The people who have him dont want to geld him, he is shown entire.

and let his legacy be that we should all have the courage to tell experts and professionals to stop and to go away if we sense that things are going wrong. What a great legacy Sarah!!! I hope his story will give many of us that courage. RIP special Piper.

Thank you everyone for what you have said to me. I've also been contacted by people who have had similar experiences and know exactly how I feel. The vets involved have accepted some responsibility for what happened and I am hoping to go up and meet them and talk through what we can all learn from this. I think I need a bit of time before I do but I don't feel angry just bewildered about how this all went so wrong.
Piper has touched so many people without ever touching them and I hope that he will continue to do so through me.
Sarah xxx
