havent been on here for a while due to my french rescues having had two healthy foals in april.
Just over a year ago I posted a thread about "aggressive horse-pts". My pony boris had been getting steadily more and more aggressive and after a sudden nasty attack where he knocked me over and bit me I asked for advice here. I also had 2 vets out who said he was perfectly healthy. he used to crib bit incessantly and I asked if he could have ulcers but was told no he was too healthy.
I decided that there were not too many options left and I insisted that he be scoped. the scope was to show that out of a range of 1-5 in ulcers he had 4 nearly 5 and at least 3 ulcers that they could see. he was put on gastroguard scoped another twice and also on Jackies gastrismooth. the tests in feb showed that the ulcers had completely gone.
I had an awful lot of support here for which I am grateful.
because of the attack I wouldnt go near boris. luckily he is at Sarah Foxes yard and she gave him his medication. he became a different horse after only a week or so on his meds.
it took me many months of being able to touch him, lead him a short way, groom him and tack him it wasnt until about feb that I actually had the courage to get on him then straight off again!
I managed to progress to riding in the school at walk but was frightened to trot.
I went to Heathers ee clinic in april at sarahs yard and with heathers patience and at my side I trotted him again!.
we now do up to half in an hour in the school mostly walk with the odd trot but that is wonderful to me.
then a couple of weeks ago I finally rode him from the indoor school back up to his field, Sarah fox was at my side with a lead rein on but he went great and now I am getting more and confident.
A year ago I never thought I would touch boris again let alone ride him, so to any doubters out there its not easy there have been many many tears and scary moments(for me) but I got there giving myself small tasks and undoubtedly I wouldnt have got there at all without Sarah Foxes help and friendship.
