Ha! First one. Friesian x cob, 8yo. I *think* I know what his good and bad points are, but will be interested to hear what you think. ps. it's VERY quiet in here Is anyone going to post a riding vid at all?

I know nothing about conformation but thought I wouldn't leave this poor thread without an answer LOL He stands pretty much like Toons, i.e. under him on the front (altho his head carriage is very stylish). He's beautiful but you know that already.

Ok, I love his head and neck, he has a good bold eye And lovely big ears ;D He stands back at the shoulder a bit, has a nice short coupled body. He has strong but very sloping quarters which personally I am not keen on,(but hey, I bet he isnt bovvered ) overall he looks a good solid type with good feet.

Thanks for the replies! His ears look ENORMOUS on that pic ;D. He does have very sloping quarters, doesn't he? I think he gets that from his Friesian side. Is it called a 'goose rump'?

It has all been said really! Lovely Friesian neck, like a swan! Good generous ears and kind expressive eyes. Wonderful Friesian mane and tail. Great depth of girth, powerful quarters - though a little goose-rumped. This can create stresses beihnd the saddle - make sure you massage him over his loins after your ride!! It can slso mean a certain lack of scope and thrust - so not necessarily a Speedy Joe! He has good bone - but are they capped hocks possibly? Slight broken hoof/pastern axis. Bit of an Irish foreleg - but that is not necessarily a bad thing! Slightly upright front pasterns. Nice sloping shoulder. Overall - gorgeous!

His hocks do looked capped in that pic, I thought that too. What's an Irish foreleg? You're right about him not being a speedy Joe! ;D Thanks for the massage tip - I'll do that .

An Irish Foreleg is one that tips back from the vertical form the elbow. It is supposed to be typical of the Irish Breeds - Connemara and Irish Draught for example. Sometimes called "under in front".
It isn't ideal conformation - but can indicate strength, if short strides.
Overall - I put "gorgeous" - because he is!!
