Last Saturday I sadly had to have my lovely cat Cassie put to sleep. She became ill 2 days earlier and stopped eating and drinking. We took her to the vet and the vet felt a tumour in her tummy and also a heart murmour which was not present 3 months earlier at her last check up. Me, my son and my daughter were with her and I stroked her as she passed. We told her how much we loved her and thanked her for always sitting on our beds looking after us when we were ill.
I found Cassie 13 years ago down a country lane near the stables I used to go to. She had been dumped in an old burnt out sofa along with her 3 newborn kittens and left. One kitten dies shortly after and the other 2 found homes with the girls from the stables but I wanted Cassie. She was a lovely tortoisehell cat who was never any trouble. She had a good life with us and she will be missed by us all. We spent most of Saturday in tears but know in our hearts that we did the right thing for her and she is not suffering. RIP Cassie and sleep well my gorgeous girl. x

Thanks everyone your kind words mean such a lot to me. I have been away on holiday in Cyprus with my OH since the 4 March and we only got back last night. I made friends with quite a few stray cats in Cyprus and kept them fed and had many cuddles with one in particular. I even saw a Cassie look a like when we went to Nicosia. She was lucky to have been with us all them years and we will always miss her. Love Diane xx
