I'm now seething and annoyed as I see my horse in the morning when it's freezing and dark and spend 15 minutes tackling the 2inch thick ice on the top of the water trough!
I get to work and (some say Im lucky) I sit next to a huge window and all I can see otuside is beautiful sunshine! I don't want to see it nice outside!!! What annoys me is I also know that by the time I leave work and get back to the yard it will again be freezing and dark and the arena will have frosted over so I can't ride. I'm sure my horse thinks I'm some sort of nocturnal creature as I only ever see him in the dark!!!

It's not fair is it! Mind you even with the winter sunshine we've had the ground has still been frozen solid and the country lanes where we hack are shaded over with trees so they are still frosty and slippery too. So I haven't ridden other than a plod round the hard school in days :-(

I know what you mean....and today I've taken holiday to take mine to the vets, and it's a gorgeous day but both my boys are at the vet so I can't even play with Bert! (He's there as a companion!!)

The things we do for our horses, eh? Still - has anyone noticed that it's JUST that little bit lighter at night now? Roll on the light evenings!

yes it's definitly still chilly out there,
am looking forward to no more frozen troughs! Am I the only one that's done this tho - Dug out the ice this morning and then put my hand on the gate and my fingers stuck to the metal gate! Split second of panick and then all was fine but wont be doing that again!!!

I'm the same, for 5 days of the week I only see my girl in the dark! - again always when its freezing and cold - it glorious here today, v cold about -1 but the sky is blue and not a cloud in sight, yet I cant enjoy any of it, I arrived here in the dark and wont be leaving until its dark! - I hate winter and wish my life away waiting for Summer, still only another 10 weeks until its officially spring and 11 weeks until the clocks change again!! - there now isn't that something to smile about LOL

It is getting lighter every evening, though... was having to go out at 3.15pm to get the boys in in daylight before Xmas - I can wait until 3.45pm now. Not a lot of compensation, I know, but the lighter evenings ARE on their way......

I'm not sure if I'm better off or worse - I work from home and my office looks out over my field. So, I get to SEE them, but as I have to work office hours I still can't do anything about it. OK, I can nip out and feed them before dark, which does help, but it's pretty frustrating when all I want to do is go and play, and I have to sit here at my PC...

What about the mornings though? Is it me or does it seem darker?

I can feel smug as we went for a long ride today - walk and trot only though as the ground was so hard. Sorry
