The route to the field is treacherous at the moment, and a slope on cycle track so very very icey. I managed to get her in tonight after an eventful morning getting her out to the field. she's not exactly the most sensible ned in the world and just wants to take full advantage of mum slipping and sliding and bog off to stuff her face
Now, I really don't know what to do, I'm toying with the idea of keeping her in until the footing is less bad but i think it's probably going to last a week or so.
Or see if I can sweet talk the yard owner for her to stay out rugged to the eyeballs, assuming I can get her safely to the field
She doesn't settle too wel in the stable long term and I'm worried that when she does go out, if I do that, she'll go doolally and do herself a mischief. We dont have a school area so I can't let her let off steam
oh what to do, what to do

Oh dear, can see your problem, just play it by ear and see how it goes each day. I'm sure she'll cope well in as long as she has plenty of food

I would see if you can leave her out..it will probably be better for her, extra rug and some ad lib hay and a friend or two would be great, or perhaps lead her in bridle for a bit of extra control these days

thanksfor the thoughts so far. i'm down in the south so it's not quite so artic and I have no doubts she will cope fine out, it's just what damage it will do to the field, and given it's rock hard now it won't be damaged at all.
will see if I can get her out to the field in the morning and then speak to the yard owner after work. I would be much happier with her staying out. unfortunately she won't have company but she won't have compnay on the yard either if she stays in which I think will stress her out.
she has some foalie bums in the field next to her, she can't see them but knows they are there because she dashes off to greet them every morning when she goes out.
