as per my previous threads, I acquired an Ex Racer on Xmas Eve, I have no stable so the poor mare has had to go straight out, she has settled in well, she is feeling the cold though.
Over Xmas/NY she has has to make do with spare/borrowed rugs. She currently has on a LW Turnout, a MW stable, a LW stable and a full neck LW turnout over the top. She is just warm but not snuggly I have more rugs to put on her if needed but worried about the weight of carrying that many round with her all the time.
I want to buy her a heavy weight full neck turnout and a snuggly full neck stable or fleece to go underneath. Will she be warm enough in just these/compared to what she is wearing now?
Any ideas on how to keep her warm would be appreciated.
Thanks

Other than sorting out which rug you feel is best for her I would say make sure she has absolutely ad lib hay or haylage. That will heat her from the inside out and really will do as much, if not more, than any rug in helping to keep her warm Horsefeed.
