Right i'm looking for a hay feeder, i've done a rather rubbish drawing of it in paint and will post the link so people can have a look. Basically i am looking to get a couple, they are box shape, there is a slot in the side where you place the bars, the lip edge on the top stops the bars coming out, as the hay gets eaton the bars go down with it. Here is the link to my really bad drawing to give you an idea of what i am talking about img.photobucket.com/albums/v715/teeni85/hayfeeder.jpgSo has any body seen these any where or know where i could get some from? I've done a few searches on the net but can find them, i don't know what the products exact name is, but they are real i haven't just made them up. Any ideas anyone?

Good idea in theory. But what if a horse managed to get in one? Would be as dangerous as a cattle grid with the bars.

Tuppence, i can see your concerns but i wouldn't use it with something that would get caught up in it. Infact the bars are set at a distance that even the smallest of ponies would struggle to get caught in it.

I've seen that somewhere just recently on another forum but can't for the life of me remember what it was called.

You could make one out of wood, using those crates people say you can get free from tile shops? ETA if there is a risk, it would be safer in wood, it would break.
