We have water butts that collect water off my stables because we have no running water, but we regularly get what looks like dead earth worms in the bottom of the water butts, I empty them quite often and the guttering looks clear. I must have tipped out around 40 today. Has any one else had this problem?

Some birds try to drink and eat at the same time, and end up dropping the worm in the troughs !! I do have this problem too, and always wondered how they get there
But explain to me STONES, how do THEY get in the troughs ? Birds again maybe ?

Stones and worms far too mundane........... i spend every day cleaning rabbits out of my huge water trough.......... poachers continually dumping rabbit heads in there for some bizarre reason. I used to think it was birds of prey washing their catch but it happens far too regulary for that now......... i'd be happy with worms or stones - LOL

I found a squirrel, a blackbird and various smaller birds in my water troughs - I'm glad that now I have shallow troughs with ledges so wildlife can get out! I get worms in them too, never been able to figure out where they come from
