How do you do it? Today it was very cold and my feet just felt cold most of the ride. I wear thermal socks, but perhaps they are not very good ones. Any tips please before my toes freeze off!

Muckboots, I've got the Tyne ones, which you can ride in. I've had them 3 years now and have never had cold feet in them. Ski socks are good too.

or two pairs thinner socks ...... better than one thick pair sometimes. I sometimes on really cold days wear a pair of cotton tights under jods (and with a pair socks on)

Woof boots, long or short. Best thing I have ever owned for keeping my feet toastie whilst riding even in the most bitter of weathers.
Swear by them and they last a good while too.

mountain horse rimfrost rider boots, I'm on my second pair and never had cold feet in them!

Another vote for the Mountain Horse boots here - I also have muck boots, but don't think they're that great for riding in. The Mountain horse rimfrost are fab. No cold feet, and fab stirrup bars to give you a really secure feeling in the stirrups too.

Try plastic stirrup irons. They don't conduct the the cold to your feet! They are only £10 from thorogood. L x

Thanks - lots of ideas there! Don't really want to buy new boots as I have too many pairs of riding boots as it is! I have some MH short leather lace up boots, and might try riding in them as they are quite padded inside. At the moment I'm using Harry Hall jod boots, as I like riding with half chaps. But they were my summer boots really, so no wonder feet are cold! I also have a pair of MH Sportive High Rider for competitions, so don't really use these every day. Will try those socks Gixer - they look nice and warm.

I always find my feet warm up when taken out of stirrups - so L17 may have a very good and much cheaper option there!!!
Rather annoyingly my MH rimfrost zip broke new year eve, so had emergency dash to local tack shop and got some WoofWear long muck boots. They seem quite warm so far!

Good tip about stirrups - but I have quite thick rubber treads in my stirrups, so feet not actually touching the metal. I'm too lazy to swap stirrups over when competing (not sure plastic ones would be smart enough!) so will probably stick with changing my boots and trying thicker socks.
