Certainly looks very interesting Sandy, like the look of the bareback pads and the treeless saddle, be good to know if anybody has tried one yet?

I've seen this on a horse and wasn't too impressed. The horse looked very uncomfortable.

www.equinewhispers.co.uk/barebackpads.htmlsister has one of these as her new horse has very very bad muscle wastage and very sharp withers i have to say it has improved lots in 7 weeks and the pad is so ice to ride on

I bought one from equine whispers but it was a libra and myself and everyone at my yard (in faireness only 5 of us) swear by it, and say that they feel so secure on it, I got it after midi blew her tendon so not to weigh her down too much but am now too scared to ride in a saddle as dont feel secure anymore, I would never part with this bareback pad best investment ever X

Sandy, I have met a lady who sells the total contact pads, and seen one used on a couple of horses when their saddles were causing problems. Also I was asked if my daughter and I could back a pony in one. I wasn't that impressed, as they do seem to slide around a lot. Certainly my daughter found it very insecure on the little Welsh B she backed and the slightest move off a norm had her slipping sideways - definately NOT a good idea. We have got the pony to work in walk off the lead and trot a little on the lead but don't want to take it further than that until there is a correctly fitted saddle in place to offer more security.

I've got a sheepskin bareback pad, the ones whichHorsey123 mentions in her post. I went for the Premium one and love it, as the knee rolls really add to the feeling of security whilst not causing any loss of feeling of the movement of the horse. You cannot help but smile when you ride in these, they are like being on a great big sheepskin rug on horseback LOL! www.bettersaddles.co.uk/acatalog/Horsedream_Bareback_Pads.html

well that's a VERY expensive way of buying a numnah, girth and some stirrup leathers!
I don't agree with stirrups on bareback pads: much too dangerous with the likelihood of the pad slipping round :-(

To be honest we use them on some of the horse if saddles are a problem. Particularly ponies. A lot of the spanish jump in them. It will develope your balance and you should NOT rely on stirrups anyway. no complaints here for the product. the stirrup bars are of the hook variety so leathers will come off. marrianne - I would have problems attaching my stirrup leathers to my girth / roller at all let alone safely!

What exactly do you get??? You don't get stirrups, leathers, gel pad or numnah, so what do you get??
£195 for a small piece of leather with stirrup fittings and a couple of straps is ridiculous. Add to that the cost of buying a gel pad, as it says you need one, I think someone is taking the mickey.

A lady at my yard has one and the horse seems to love it and she is comfy, she goes off for miles and jumps in it!
