Hello, As part of my never-ending horse orientated learning, I'm reading up on hooves and hoof care. I'm now on page 15 in the Horse Help forum on here, but I haven't found much, so far ,on hoof care (identifying healthy/unhealthy hooves/frogs etc). Are there any good websites that I can research? I'm interested in both barefoot and non-barefoot. Thanks kindly, Gypsy

If you have a look at www.appliedequinepodiatry.co.uk there is a very general article about what a healthy hoof should be as well as a number of others to look through. Click on 'Articles' and if you scroll down on that page you will see the Healthy Hoof article that was published in the Listening Post. There will also be further articles published in the Listening Post, so if you are not a member of IH, it is one of the many good reasons to join! ;-)

www.hoofrehab.com has loads of good articles on barefoot hooves. And if you want the shod stuff as well www.horseshoes.com, bit too much ranty arguing from farriers on there but quite a bit of useful stuff as well.

Here's another good link. www.tribeequus.com/I also recommend Jaime Jacksons books...The Natural Horse and Horse Owners Guide . As well as Pete Rameys Making Natural Hoofcare Work for you.
