Hi ya - Does anyone know where we can get a 'substantial' hay bar from relatively cheap? Have found one at £57 but they want £15 delivery, so if anyone knows of anything cheaper, would you please say. It is for Jack who is 18.2hh Shire, he is at the moment eating hay off the floor, but we need to contain it as he is wasting a lot. By the way the sinus smell is back again!!!!

How about using a Gorilla sized Trug Bucket with a Hay Weight on the top? Or put the Gorilla in a tyre?

Cost about £8!! You could fix it higher for him, and I found if you shake the hay out well and put a weight on top (I use a log) they don't drag it over the edge and into their bed.

Or get one of these crates for free in lots of different sizes from a builder's merchants or tile shop. \/

Haven't got a picture but in stable and field shelters we use plastic dustbins held in place with bungees held on two cups hooks. The loose seed in the field shelter ones is tipped on to the bare patches outside for fresh grass in the spring.

Heres mine. The inside of the stable, it takes no space from the stable. The outside of the stable, it is made from a cement mixing bath with the top cut off. Slices just fit in nicely. I have made another one inside a stable accross the corner, it is better than this, will get some photos tomorrow. The horses cant pick through these feeders, they eat the oldest first and the are fed low down at ground level without mixing the haylage in their bedding.
