I have a Barefoot Cheyenne saddle and a very round pony.
Not sure which girth to get, which do you prefer and why?

I have a gorgeous reactorpanel girth I use with my treeless, it is leather with elastic in the middle.
Quite like wintec's though, not a fan of elastic on the ends, and the wintec's tend to be less slippy and easy to clean.

I looooooooove my stubben soft string girth. It breaths because of its design..and you know what of all the girths I have used over the years it is the ONLY one to not move forwards. Easy to wash.. and whwen Flynn lost all that weight I simply shrunk it in tumble drier.. and they are really reasonable price

I have a HM Fhoenix and use the Professional Choice girth that Heather recommends. Fab girth, never rubs or anything.

My saddler reccomended a normal non elasticated girth for my round horse who has no withers as it gives a better anchor and reduces any chance of saddle slipping sideways, an elastic with give could allow this to happen.
I adore the Jeffried Wembly leather girth I now have *thanks Jes! but the thorowgood cob girth is also excellent.

Thorowgood synthetic airflow girth. Stunning and still looks like new after a year.

Wintec with eleastic in the middle, not the end.. plus it's a dressage girth I do like however, the idea of a humane girth.. but with seamus whose saddles tend to roll around, having a girth that gives with the horses movement, really isnt a good idea.. found meself on the ground more with that girth than on top of him

I also have a stubben string girth We got absolutely plastered in mud on a training weekend, washed it off and hung it on the trailer to dry. I was gob smacked how quickly it dried and was ready for the afternoon I had an elasticated one before, but have no problems girthing up when I'm on. How do you find your saddle when mounting from the ground? I only ask as I am thinking of changing my saddle, but I've heard a few commens on treeless saddles slipping when you mount from the ground. (I only mount from the ground in Trec comps )

sadly my horse hates the Stubben girth. I probably have at least one of every type mentioned! Stubben - yes, breathable, doesn't move much - but my mare pulls more faces when that goes on than any other. I have a Kay Humphries Dana girth - banana shaped padded leather, and wintec elasticated along the length: Kay says NEVER the buckle ends. sigh. I am now thinkng about the new CAIR girth..

Another vote for the string girth, less sweating than wnitecs or similar and really helped the stability of treeless saddles on my fat cob.

I hate the idea of the humane girths, probably because I've seen so many people pull them tight enough to cut their horse in half. Because they're easy to just keep on pulling up to tighten some people don't realise what they're doing.

Personally I like the humane girths although I've got a fairly conventional shaped horse and a saddler said they don't suit all shapes. Currently use a synthetic Aerborn Atherston girth with elastic both ends - soft waffle material and easy to wash and dry.

I've got the Pro Choice, elasticated on both ends with my treeless (SBS). Never had a problem with it slipping on my tank, sorry, mare I can see that elasticated only on one end could cause a problem because of the uneven pull but have never had an issue with a girth elasticated on both ends
