I am in desperate need of a good farrier/trimmer, who can deal with a 'difficult' to trim pony, who needs a regular and consistent triming routine!! If anyone can reccommend one in the south devon/torbay area that would be super!!
Thank you in advance x

Hi jenperks, i have had lots of horses recently with problems and difficulties with handling and foot issues etc and have gone about it from the other way round.... which has actually made it massively easier.... I have ensured that the horse has been fully prepared prior to my farrier coming, so that my farrier is put at as little risk as possible and that way i can choose the very best consciensious farrier for my horse rather than having to settle for which ever farrier will be brave enough to do it quickly.... Also this way the farriers seem to respect you better too and are more willing to share their knowledge and take more care and pride... Afterall it is his livelyhood and if he is damaged doing your pony he then looses money...
Is there anyone who can help you with training your pony ready for the farrier locally..? I would recommend a session with your local RA... it would so be worth spending that money if your pony needs regular or corrective hoof care... so that the situation does not esculate but becomes a positive learning experience each time. Or posting a link on the mainsite for advice and ideas.. people here are really helpful...
Of course if it is that i read your post wrong and it is a case of complex, foot trimming and needing a skilled farrier then sorry i have no personal recommendations.. but could suggest the farriers register?
