Noting that Alexander Nevzorov features in 'the path of the horse' I have two of his DVDs-one of which is excellent the other of which is somewhat 'odd' and not for children!
In Nevzorov Haute Ecole Principles he presents some interesting and well filmed scenes of working and riding horses without any constraints you can really warm to him and his horses. But then there is his second DVD (in russian with English Subtitles)
The Horse Crucified and Risen-Horse Encyclopedia
it starts as a very interesting DVD wit a mummyfied horse in The Hermatarge St Petersburg relating to the scarifice of the horse 2,000 years ago-there are then some rather hammy acted but interesting bits in relation to horses being burnt a witches and something to do with eyes being poked out and put back by a 'god' then there is the story of Gullivers Travels and the battle between horses and humans (but they are not called that)
OK so far, but then it switches to some dreadful pic of abuse of horses in bits and with sticks (all from Russia) then we get the view that the bit is a worthless bit of junk to torture horses with-at one point some dreadful pics of horses at a race course-think its newmarket as he is in an operating theatre at some point explaining what excellent care the horses is getting (in Russian) as he then goes on to explain that this is only to abuse it on the race track.
He does make some good points and his scenes of horses being dreadfully abused (mainly with bits) are very nasty-he does give the impression that this is how the bit is used-but its clear that this is from a very small horse show in Russia and people that trat horses like that would abuse them in a bitless as well.
so there you have it, please dont get the second one for any young children as a christmas present
