A certified therapeutic riding instructor Patricia Broersma founded and directed the Saddle Light Center, a non profit therapeutic riding program in San Antonio, Texas.
She went on to re-establish, direct and act as head instructor for HOPE Equestrian
Center in Ashland, Oregon. And has been a certified instructor with North American Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) since 1997 and is president of the Equine Facilitated Mental Health Association.
Anyone who has admired a horse galloping across a field has stepped into their mythic life, if only for a moment. Horses by their very nature are mythic creatures - they represent in our collective imagination aspects of the human journey at its greatest. In Riding into your Mythic Life Broersma invites readers on an experiential journey of transformation with these powerful creatures, offering ways to explore life's events as part of a personal mythic journey.
Broersma has developed her theories over 20 years of working with horses and children with special needs, as well as through a twelve year series of horse camps for teenagers and weekend workshops for adults. The book brings the authors work with horses together with her studies in mythology and body based healing modalities. Readers are invited to re-frame their lives into a larger vision through exercises with myth and horses, allowing for even painful events to contribute to a renewed sense of commitment and enthusiasm.
Riding into your Mythic Life - Transformational Adventures with the horse offers horse enthusiasts and professionals as well as therapists, educators and lay readers the opportunity to explore and expand human potential through powerful experiences with horses. These experiences teach skills for developing intuition, compassion and leadership, and ultimately for stepping into ones greater life. They help develop an awareness of subtle cues in oneself and others - both horses and people - and ways to orchestrate this awareness for a more joyful and effective life.
ISBN 978-1-57731-574-2 New World Library 14, Pamaron Way, Novato, California 94949 first printed November 2007.
