I wondered if anyone could tell me if it is worth trying to advertise a rising 6yrs 13.1 mare for loan? The reason for asking is that I dont want to sell as I bought her from auction last year and she is nervous and hate the thought of her being passed around, she was only broken late summer and then turned away, I have just brought her back in to start her but obviously there is loads of work to do and I dont have a clue if anyone would ever be keen to do a lot of work themselves as I have never loaned anything out before, would appreciate any advice, thanks.

Yes i'd advertise her but vet the home well. I loaned a 5yo 14hh New forest mare when I was 17, she'd been backed, ridden away and then her owner had literally just hacked on a long rein till they got to a field where she'd picked up the reins and set off! No prizes for guessing how i found that out It took the whole 12 months that I loaned her for to change her way of thinking but I learnt loads about schooling and bringing on a youngster. So my point is that there are people out there who would be happy to take on a project. Get a good contract written out and check up on her regularly.
