Realise there has been a few posts about treeless saddles lately, but just wondered if anyone has a barefoot cherokee treeless, and if so how do you feel about it? I have just bought the cheyenne but wonder if i should have gone for the cherokee as it has knee rolls....... anyway, all replies appreciated! thanks

Hi Sarah I rang horse and harmony a couple of weeks ago because I thought the only difference was the knee rolls-and you're right, it is. Frankly, the price difference in the saddles is a bit steep considering that it is the only difference!!! Anyhoo, I ended up buying a cheaper one to suck it and see if we're suited to treeless. If we are, I'll probably end up with a cherokee and then WHINGE VERY LOUDLY about that price difference and you can pat yourself on the back for: a) having the better bargain and b) developing better calves than I ever will because you didn't buy the wussy knee-roll model!! ;D Alternatively, it might be worth checking to see if you can adapt it with the velcro ones you can buy as separates How are you getting on with the saddle? Pics Missus???

thanks for that, i did the same as you! and thought the same, and also the thought of OH with steam coming out of ears when he got the visa bill, and that stopped me in my tracks!
Had treeless before, an early Trekker, which was ok on the horse i had at the time, but i wanted the barefoot for a skinny tb. i only got on xmas eve, and not tried to ride in it yet as we had heavy rain all day yesterday. But i had tried one on him before and like it. Also there are the treeless pads that have the velcro knee pads, so could try that.
Have you tried yours yet? Will post pics when new camera arrives!

you wont be able to adapt the cheyenne to be like the cherokee with any velcro parts, the cut of the cherokee is far more forward than the cheyenne. If you are thinking of getting a cheyenne and you are close enough to visit Robinsons why not check out their own treeless. It is near identical to the cheyenne and only £250 including pad!!
I wanted a cherokee but I hate the horse head on it. My cheap treeless I ride on at the moment is shaped quite like the cherokee and the knee rolls aren't really big enough to make any difference. It is comfy though. Oh, and the robinsons one has velcro knee blocks so it is a bit more supportive.

I had a ride on someone's Cherokee, it was a nice saddle but the knee rolls didn't make all that much difference really. I do ride quite long though.
