Just read on google news..that today is said to be the biggest hunting day of the year!!
I must say its something i have never taken part in, but only because i lived in Birmingham, for many years, and not really rural, although we had horses, but kept at local riding school.
However last yr i seen my first actual drag hunt, pass me in staffordshire. Everyone seemed like they were having fun (no foxes killed)
JUst wondering if it will be as big this year??
Please dont turn this into a "for "or "against" thread.
Just wondering if it will be as big as expected!!
Wonder if Emily is out today??? if so pics please!

I was gonna, think it was a drag hunt i was going to but Renas recently gone back to her old self ridden wise and i thought that there was half a chance we'd get to the hunt and she decide she won't be taking part, didnt want the embarasment so will leave it til next year. Looking forward to seeing pics of thems that did hunt today tho

Was going to go out today with the Tedworth (Wiltshire) who are an ex-foxhunt now hunting within the new laws, but didn't have transport for the pones. Were meant to be going to the meet just to have a bit of a mingle and eat sausage rolls and glug some port but went for a long ride instead and didn't get back in time. We did go out in a group, with our very jolly and fresh horses and had a good gallop though and jump a few fallen twiggy things - so it was almost like our own little hunt ride I hope Emily and her family went out today and will post some pics - the weather is perfect for it. I always get madly jealous seeing her pictures though Boxing day is always a really big day, very popular with foot followers as well who incorporate it into their festive routine over the Christmas hols! I think the only time I've seen more people out than on a boxing day was the meet in Feb 05 which was the day after the ban came in - everyone and their great aunt Hilda was out - literally hundreds of horses and people.

I intend to go soon, have never been before but want to give it a go!! Would have gone today but i'm at my parents in London and Ted's in Durham.....tis a problem!!!!
I am a bit scared of going though....not from a riding point of view because i know that if Ted does get really over the top or doesn't like it then i will just go home, more as i don't really know what to expect and i am scared that i will do something wrong.....so people that do hunt, any tips/advice???

This is the first year I haven't been (either on foot or on a horse) since I was 6 years old! Unfortunately I was working today I'm represented by 2 of my horses though. My mum is riding Mel, and Percy is Master/huntsman's horse for the Wilton Hunt (foxhounds who now follow a drag).
