I dont think she is at all lame or in any pain. You can see quite clearly that she is tracking up equally on both hinds, she does look short a couple of times but on both hinds. You can also see that when she stops trying to shoot forwards and the pressure is eased she drops her head quite nicely, not as nice an outline as you might want but I reckon that will come with time when she settles. I will put money that she is just exactly like Lyric, in which case you will find she is very forward going but also very safe when your daughter learns how to 'ride her the way she likes to be ridden'. As they get used to each other I think they will become a great little team and work well together. There were several bits on there where they looked good together. I think you will be delighted with her when you all get used to each other, I adore Lyric and I really do think Haffies are different in personality to other horses

In all seriousness, he said totally un balanced but that was because she was being an idiot and napping to the boys, he saw first hand what she was doing, ridden, lunged and physical exam, she has a wolf tooth, which could or could not be a problem, so we will have that out, he also thinks its a bit issue and to try several bits or even a hackamore, he thought she was slightly sore on her off hind due to hoof being taken too low nothing else obvious and nothing serious. His ulitmate prediction is its haflinger behaviour and very common in haffys lol, he thought she was nice and would happily pass her for vetting, he also took blood and is going to test for pregancy said her back is good and all reactions and flexing ect good for a horse with her neck lol..so lots of thinking to do, theres nothing shouting home, so i think we will deal with the issues and try our best to work with her through her mouth issues...On for sunday Jenny?

I was going to try the peewee bit for Lyric, I wish I had got round to it now to see if it made a difference for her. I think they have quite fleshy mouths and thick tongues, Sami rides in a french link baucher and the bit pieces are quite narrow so she is fairly comfortable in it but I have never thought she was 100%. I would be really interested in hearing what you decide on for her and if it makes a real difference. I am so glad you are going to give her a go, I really dont think you will be disappointed and am sure you will all fall in love with her. You do realise that if she is in foal Sami will hate you forever - we thought Lyric was and she got all excited about it - but she was just very very fat!

Don't have either, sorry, how about your dually? I'll let you know re times for Sunday.
Funny how she's just the same as Cosworth was with her short feet! I only thought of that when I watched that last vid, something about the way she was putting her leg down just made me think of when he was footy that time you saw him.
You must be so relieved!

Excellent news! She did look a bit sore in those vids but if the vet can't see anything hopefully it was either just a jerky vid or a soreness thats eased off. A saddle check would also be one of my first points of call - can't tell whether rider is tipping forwards or whether the saddle is tipping her forwards a bit? But def worth looking at. I think I read somewhere that haffys have small mouths so a french link or other double jointed bit may be better for her than a single jointed bit? That's from the dim dark recesses of my mind and I can't point you anywhere to tell you thats true.
Good luck with her, I think she's fab. (And totally the reason I spent ages last night browsing for haffy weanling/yearling fillies for sale... Thelwall potters off to repeat the mantra 'I do not have the time or money for another horse, I do not have the time or money for another horse'

thought so, its more to do with anxiety (probably quite severe anxiety). Hopefully it will just work through over the next couple of weeks. Keep us posted with more pics! :-)

thelwall, I think you, me, Gail and others were seeing the footiness that the vet noticed too. Cosworth had the same and Gail swore he was lame when she saw him, yet as soon as he had his shoes back on he was fine! It's only slight but it's there on the vids, I am a dab hand at spotting hind limb lameness due to owning Cosworth for six years, lol!

thelwall, everyone should have a haffie! Gail, the peewee is the very very thin bit that looks like it should be very painful but is supposed to be extremely comfortable and change the way most horses go immediately. Apparently it is very widely used for problem horses with positive results in most cases. At £45 I cant afford one til after Christmas but will definitely be trying it out, they do a trial period on the website though if you wanted to try it.

Not yet read all the story, but just wanted to say that a hackamore could potentially be as painful as a bit when there are tooth probs, because it fits quite snugly to the side of the mouth & face, so do be careful.
You might not have thought of it - because I didn't til I got told very firmly that it was painful, by my horse!
