With groundwork, NH etc etc Not really got the title and context right to get across what i mean but basically been thinking about how iv been trying to get everything right with Dan since he has been back from loan. Iv got more and more NH as it were but it all seemed to be bring me further and further from my goal. Ok so I could pick that iv made lots of mistakes at the stuff iv been doing and i have but i like to think im pretty experienced so could have been worse...if perfection is needed then how do we stand a chance. But its not really till iv packed it all in, made it simple and just got on with it like I used to that iv got my horse back. hmmm reread that and not really got across what I mean but hopefully someone will have some idea

Yes, I think we do. I'm as guilty as anyone. Sometimes we need to spend less time navel gazing & worrying whether we're doing it right, and just get on with it. I think it's great to read, and try things and apply them, but sometimes things would work better if we just went out there with the attitude of doing it, and got it done, rather than worrying if someone else is doing it better than us.

Completely agree with this and I know exactly what you mean. Just need to get on and do stuff sometimes!

I feel like this alot. If I spent more time getting on with it rather than worrying about what's he's thinking all the time, would I make more progress. I don't know the answer but I know that sometimes I feel as though the more information I find out the more hopeless it seems.

funnily enough my OH said to me yesterday that I think too much about it all!! I worry if it's 'right' feels 'right' looks 'right' etc... I have to agree with him... when I was a kid with ponies I never made it all so tricky!

So agree. When I first started riding many years ago you put your horse first even if it meant discomfort to you but at the end of the day you called the shots. Now there is too much faffing about. We were watching a film of two clinics I went to about 4 years ago, lots of faffing about. Going back to the Parelli thread I heard PP say to keep it simply I think that's what a lot of us should remember for our own benefit and that of our horses.

Yeah, i think i know what you mean. I think as long as you have your head and heart in the right place and are genuinely trying to do the best to work with your horse rather than against it then that is half the battle won. I've tied myself in knots recently worrying about things that i've read on here and other places, about whether i am doing the best for Ted or if i am ruining him, but yet when i sit down and think 'ok, so what are my aims...i would like to do better trot to halt transitions etc.....do i know how to do this...yes, think so....right so get on with it it' works better.
Ok, now i think i am not getting my point across properly....maybe best put that you can think TOO much...there are a lot of interesting and conflicting opinions out there and it is great to read them all and learn and decide what your opinion is on it all but i think you are best doing that in a different part of your brain to the bit you use to actually work with your horse, that bit needs to be clear and simple.
Hmmm, once again confused myself...........................
